Suriname: Latin American Public Opinion Project - Victimization and Crime survey 2014

This dataset provides individual-level survey microdata for respondents aged 16 and older from the 2014 round of the Latin American Public Opinion Project (LAPOP) AmericasBarometer in Suriname. For this edition, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) financed a dedicated module on victimization and crime, broadening the standard AmericasBarometer instrument to capture citizens' direct and indirect experiences of crime, perceptions of insecurity, and confidence in institutions tasked with public safety.

About the survey program

The AmericasBarometer, produced by the LAPOP Lab, is one of the most established comparative public-opinion surveys in the Americas, fielding nationally representative samples on democratic values, governance, and the lived realities of citizens across the hemisphere. By supporting an additional victimization and crime module, the IDB contributed to a richer evidence base on citizen security in the Caribbean, a priority area for the Bank's work on the public sector and the rule of law in Latin America and the Caribbean.

What is included
