idb:dataNotes """### What is this dataset?

Project-level climate finance for Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) operations approved in 2025 in Latin America and the Caribbean. It is the 2025 instalment of the IDB Climate Finance Data series, published annually since 2016.

### What does a row represent?

One operation, under one climate objective — mitigation, adaptation or dual — and one sector. An operation spanning several sectors or objectives appears on several rows, and its total approved amount repeats unchanged on each of them, so a per-operation figure is a sum over that operation's rows.

### What does it measure?

The share of each approved operation counted as climate finance, and that share in US dollars, split between mitigation, adaptation and dual-benefit activities. Each row also carries the instrument type, lending instrument, country, responsible department and division, and approval date.

### How is climate finance defined and estimated?

Climate finance is the financial resources committed to development projects and components that enable activities mitigating or adapting to climate change. Amounts are estimated using the Joint MDB approach to climate finance tracking, set out in the annual Joint Report on Multilateral Development Banks' Climate Finance.

### How should the percentage and amount columns be read?

The three percentage columns hold proportions of the approved amount between 0 and 1, so 0.0506 means 5.06%. Every monetary column is in US dollars. A row carries a sector only for its own objective, so the sector column of the other objective is blank.

### Which countries are included?

The IDB's borrowing member countries in Latin America and the Caribbean: Argentina, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela.

### What time period does it cover?

Operations approved between 1 January and 31 December 2025.

### What is not included?

IDB operations only. Financing by IDB Invest and IDB Lab, the other institutions of the IDB Group, is not part of this dataset.

### In what format is it available?

A table that can be sorted, filtered and queried through the portal's DataStore API, and the source Excel workbook as a download. The workbook also holds summary views of 2025 by country, by category and by financial instrument.
