Other Reserve Assets
Other Reserve Assets covers all remaining components of international reserves that are not classified as foreign currency, gold or SDRs. It may include reserve positions in the IMF or other highly liquid external assets controlled by the monetary authority, and the definition can vary by country. Gross international reserves correspond to reserve assets from the international investment position. This indicator is part of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Latin Macro Watch, a curated macroeconomic database for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Coverage
The series covers 9 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean at annual, monthly and quarterly frequency, spanning 1990 to 2026. Values are available in millions of USD and as a share of GDP (% of GDP), including average-of-period and end-of-period variants, with transformations such as 3-, 6- and 12-month moving averages (MA3, MA6, MA12) and month-on-month, quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year percentage changes (MoM %, QoQ %, YoY %).

Data are compiled from national central banks and regional bodies, including Banco Central do Brasil, Banco de Mexico (Banxico), Bank of Jamaica, Central Bank of Barbados and Consejo Monetario Centroamericano, supporting comparable analysis of external buffers across the region.
