    At the IDBG Annual Meeting in 2016, the Board of Governors resolved to endorse the goal of increasing the financing of climate change related projects in LAC to 30% of the IDB’s and IIC’s combined total approvals operations by 2020, subject to demand from borrowing countries and clients and access to external sources of concessional financing. During 2018, the IDB Group invested approximately US$5 billion in climate finance; that is, in development activities carried out by the public and private sectors that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and thus mitigate climate change, and/or that reduce vulnerability to climate change and contribute to an adaptation process. This amount represented 27% of the IDB Group’s total approvals. Please note that only data from IDB and IDB Lab are available in this dataset.

  • COVID-19 Household Telephone Survey in Barbados: 2020

    This dataset constitute a panel follow-up to the 2016 Barbados Survey of Living Conditions. It measures welfare related variables before and after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic including labor market outcomes, financial literacy, and food security. The survey was executed between May and June 2020. The Barbados COVID-19 Survey is a project of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). It collected data on critical socioeconomic topics in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic to support policymaking that can help curb the crisis impacts on the populations welfare. It recontacted households that had been interviewed by the Barbados Survey of Living Conditions (BSLC) in 2016 and was phone-based, given the mobility restrictions and social distancing measures in place.     This dataset is associated with the publication "Urban Integration and Coexistence Program: Results of the Pairing Strategy" (Related publication only available in Spanish). The report presents the results of a pilot program for comprehensive neighborhood improvement, focusing on indicators such as crime and security, women’s empowerment, optimism, household activities, and access to basic services. The pilot program served as the foundation for the development of the Urban Integration and Coexistence Program (PICU) and was implemented in two neighborhoods of the Central District of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The program did not achieve the expected outcomes regarding women’s empowerment. Treated women continue to request permission from their partners at a higher rate, and no significant impact was observed on decision-making.     The series of documents includes general recommendations to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission in the tourism sector, as well as specific recommendations for different tourist subsectors and spaces (accommodations, restaurants, local transport, beaches, airports and ports). It also includes recommendations for managing prevention protocols and specific tools to minimize transmission. The series is derived from an evaluation-diagnosis exercise that determined the adequacy of the current biosafety protocols against COVID-19 in a set of tourism subsectors, identifying the main nodes of risk of contagion throughout the service provision process. The series is made up of 10 documents: Reading Guide, R01 General Recommendations, R02.1-R02.5 Specific Recommendations by Subsector (tourist accommodation, restaurants, local transport, beaches, ports and airports), R03 Recommendations for Managing Prevention Protocols, and E02.1-E02.2 Specific Tools to Minimize Transmission.
