  • Bolivia Labor Market Survey: Diversity and Inclusion Policies in Formal Companies 2023 (Aggregated Data)

    The data collected in this study allows to characterize the diversity in companies in the cities of La Paz, El Alto, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz. This information was collected through a survey conducted during the third quarter of 2023. The objective of the surveys was to obtain a proxy for information that allows characterizing, on the one hand, in a general way the composition of the representation of the various groups in companies; the existence of hiring policies for these diverse groups and the obstacles that companies have faced during the hiring process. To obtain this information, the survey was conducted with the person in charge of human resources or the person in charge of hiring and human talent management. This year’s edition of Development in the Americas (DIA) focuses on the well-being of children from conception to 8 years of age and makes the case for public intervention in improving child outcomes. The process of child development—physical, communicational, cognitive, and socio-emotional— does not unfold on its own, but is shaped by the experiences children accumulate at home, in daycare centers, and at school. Parents, relatives, other caregivers, teachers, and government all have a hand in shaping those experiences. This book offers suggestions for public policy to improve those experiences in ways that would certainly shape children’s lives and the face of the societies they live in for years to come.

  • Summary Dataset: Water and Sanitation Tariffs in Latin America

    This dataset was generated by the Knowledge team in the Inter-American Development Bank's Water and Sanitation division from publicly available information to allow for the characterization and comparison of tariff systems and subsidies. It contains data on residential drinking water supply and sanitation tariffs, and includes data on subsidies, tariff types, metering, and more. The tariff dataset has been simplified and made available to the public via the Water and Sanitation Observatory for Latin America and the Caribbean (OLAS), consistent with the OLAS goals to provide consistent, reliable, and updated data to understand the water and sanitation sector at the national and regional levels, within the framework of SDG 6.     This dataset contains survey data for the publication "The Invisible Women: The Costs of Prison and the Indirect Effects on Women" (Related publication only available in Spanish). The study seeks to draw attention to the families of people who are detained in the local Mexican prison system. The results of this study are divided into two parts: the first part shows the socio-demographic characteristics of those who visit the Centers for Social Rehabilitation including information about their education, work, and economic status, among others. The second part provides quantitative information on the economic, social and health costs that are imposed by a criminal model that fails to recognize its existence, and by a prison system that frequently fails to comply with the obligation to pay the expenses of those that have been put in seclusion.

    This dataset contains information on Programa Nacional Cuna Más (Cuna Mas, hereinafter), Peru’s largest early childhood development program established in 2012. It focuses on one of the two services provided by Cuna Mas known as Servicio de Acompanamiento a Familias (SAF), a home visiting program that operates in rural areas and provides one-hour weekly home visits to children aged 0-36 months and their caregiver. The objective of the study was to compare different instruments to measure the quality of home visiting programs. Between August and October 2015, three instruments were administered to a sample of 554 children enrolled in Cuna Mas and receiving home visits at the time of data collection, and on their 176 home visitors who regularly work with 80 supervisors.
