The second round of the IDB/Cornell Coronavirus Survey is a follow-up to the first round of the IDB/Cornell Coronavirus Survey, which collected information related to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on labor markets, food security, social distancing, and knowledge about the symptoms and forms of contagion of the Coronavirus. The main objective of the second round was to follow up with households participating in the first round, collecting more detailed information on household income and assets, as well as data on beneficiaries of social programs existing before the pandemic, financial inclusion, political preferences, and behaviors related to Covid-19 in general. The data collection procedure for the second round, as well as its dissemination, were carried out in the same way as for the first round. Data from the two rounds of the survey were combined to create a household-level data panel. By conducting a correlation exercise between participation in the second round and...

Cybersecurity Dataset: Are We Ready in Latin America and the Caribbean? (2016) This dataset supports the 2016 Cybersecurity Report, Are We Ready in Latin America and the Caribbean?, produced by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Organization of American States (OAS), and Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre (GCSCC) at Oxford. Data were collected via an online survey using the Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model (CMM), developed by the GCSCC. The survey was translated into English and Spanish. Following a pilot phase, it was administered to a diverse group of national stakeholders across 32 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The responses were aggregated, reviewed, cleaned, and supplemented with additional information from external sources to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Between 2023 and 2024, the IDB, in collaboration with the governments of seven countries, conducted surveys exclusively targeting users of public services. The objective was to measure the experience of different population groups with government services and assess the government’s readiness for digital service delivery. These surveys, nationally representative of the user population, represent an innovative effort by emphasizing the collection of information on key variables such as sex, age, ethnicity, disability status, urban/rural location, and educational level of individuals who use government services. The questionnaires gathered data on connectivity, ownership of digital assets, digital skills, transactions carried out and the experience with those transactions, awareness of digital public services, and experience with specific social transactions. These surveys are part of a broader study on the use of public services at the nationally representative level, the resulting...

LACES is a comprehensive and internationally comparable firm level dataset covering 14 Caribbean territories. The dataset records firm level behavior related to a variety of aspects such as: sales, supplies, foreign trade and competition, innovation, conflict resolution, crime prevention, business environment and government relations, labour and skills, financing, performance, among others. The dataset uses the World Bank Enterprise Survey methodology. Until 2011, the region did not have a firm-level, internationally comparable data that could shed light on the variables that affect productivity. Compete Caribbean funded a Caribbean Enterprise and Indicator Survey that was conducted as part of the World Bank's 2010 Latin American and Caribbean Enterpise Survey (LACES) to fill this gap. The LACES and the PROTEqIN surveys share the bulk of the questions. Both datasets together comprise more than 4000 observations. These datasets are complemented by the FINGEN data, which registers...

The Brazilian Electoral Panel Study (BEPS) was designed primarily to capture campaign dynamics at the national level during the 2010 Brazilian presidential election. It aimed at generating data that make it possible to i) measure electoral volatility at the individual level during political campaigns, and ii) explore the ways in which both short and long-term factors affect this process and the ultimate vote decision. The Brazilian Electoral Panel Study is composed of three waves conducted in March and April, August, and November of 2010. The first wave was implemented about six months prior to the first round of the election and before the official launch of the political campaign that began in July with the nomination of candidates. It was conducted as part of the 2010 AmericasBarometer of the Latin American Public Opinion Project (LAPOP). Wave Two of the survey predated the beginning of the Free Electoral Airtime (Hor√°rio Gratuito de Propaganda Eleitoral or HGPE), in which...
