Construction Cost Index (CCI)
The Construction Cost Index (CCI) measures the change in the cost of inputs used in the construction sector — such as materials, labor and equipment — and is published in the Latin Macro Watch dataset of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Its composition and methodology vary across countries. The series helps economists, sector analysts and policymakers monitor cost pressure in construction and infrastructure across Latin America and the Caribbean.
Coverage
Data are available for 5 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean at annual, monthly and quarterly frequency, spanning 1990 to 2026. Values are reported as index levels, including a 2023 = 100 base, and on a year-to-date basis, with period-average and end-of-period variants. Available transformations include month-on-month, quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year growth rates.
Sources
Figures are compiled from national statistical agencies, including INDEC - Argentina, the Instituto Nacional de Estadística de Uruguay, the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos de Ecuador and the Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada. The Argentine series (ICC, Nivel General) covers the Greater Buenos Aires area and is not a national index.
